Following the untimely death of our friend and inspiring leader, Ian McKeever, the board and directors of Kilimanjaro Achievers have considered the company’s position and obligations to schools and climbers, who have committed to climbing and raising funds for their preferred charities.
Kilimanjaro Achievers is delighted to announce that it has appointed Mike O’Shea, from Dingle to co-ordinate and lead scheduled trips for 2013 on its behalf. He is an internationally regarded Adventurer in his own right, experienced at climbing all over the World, Paragliding, Paramotoring and is currently engaged in expeditions to the North Pole, and Patagonia’s North and South Ice Caps and soon heading off to walk the length of Lake Baikal in Siberia. Mike is also an expert in mountain rescue, coastguard activities and sea cliff emergencies around the coast of Ireland & Internationally.
The Kilimanjaro programmes, designed by Ian McKeever on behalf of KA, were unique in that in addition to climbing Kilimanjaro, the programmes included a range of additional features:
1) Health screening and optimization to dramatically improves summit success
2) Blood analysis to ensure summit success
3) Nutritional advice to aid in training
4) Fitness assessment, fitness training and guided hill walking
5) Team building and psychometric assessment prior to departure
6) Reassessment of all, and gear checking prior to depart for Africa
Ultimately, Ian’s 99 % + success rate on the mountain is in large part due to this attention to detail.
Mike and Dr Padraig Sheeran (KA), have already visited schools to assure them that all climbs previously agreed with Ian will still be proceeding, with training commencing at the end of February.
The website is currently being updated, and Mike shall be providing updates next week, and we would be delighted to clarify questions and further enquiries through the web site or by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org
